Ongoing provision of asymptomatic Lateral Flow Tests
Fri, 18 Mar 2022

From 1 April 2022, the government will no longer provide free universal symptomatic and asymptomatic COVID-19 testing for the general public in England.

Ahead of this national change to the testing guidance, public health provision for Lateral Flow Test (LFT) home kit collection from council-run venues such as libraries, customer service centres and leisure centres has gradually been reduced, as existing stock is distributed.

There are still plenty of LFT kits available at East Riding Leisure Beverley, Bridlington, Haltemprice and Goole. Just pop in and ask at reception. You can have two boxes per household (four for larger households on request).

Public health is encouraging council staff (and residents) to pick up kits over the next couple of weeks to build up their supplies to support asymptomatic testing at home from April. Asymptomatic testing continues to be recommended, especially ahead of seeing anyone classed as vulnerable or high risk, or before large social events.

The national ordering portal as well as pharmacy collection continues to provide free LFT kits until the end of the month, subject to availability:

Assisted LFT testing for anyone 16+ is also available until 25 March 2022 (subject to change) at Goole Library and ERL Beverley, Bridlington and Haltemprice. No appointment is required.

Look out for the East Riding community distribution team in your area over the next couple of weeks, on a mission to get residents stocked up! Check the council's social media and local community boards for details.

How to access LFTs in the East Riding

From 1 April 2022, there will be some limited ongoing free symptomatic testing provided by the government for a small number of at-risk groups and for social care staff. Further guidance will be released in the coming weeks.

Thank you for your support.
