COVID-19 vaccine opportunities for children aged five to 11
Wed, 27 Apr 2022

Do you have a child aged five to 11 in your household and would like them to be vaccinated?

Since Monday, 4 April, all children in this cohort have been eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.

Vaccination sites have now been set up across England for children aged five to 11 with no underlying health conditions to be offered two paediatric (child) doses of the Pfizer vaccine, with 12 weeks between doses.

Parents can book their child's first vaccine now on the NHS booking site for some special local clinics, as long as their child is aged five-years-old or above, they will also receive a letter from the NHS with more information.

Visit nhs.uk/covidvaccine to book an appointment online.

Any regional walk-ins or clinics will be updated on the local NHS vaccination website:  https://vaccinatehullandeastriding.co.uk/

UPDATED: Extra pre-booked clinics specifically for this age group have been added to the Princes Quay vaccination centre in Hull (HU1 2PQ) running from 4pm to 8pm. Dates scheduled include:

  • Friday, 29 & Saturday, 30 April
  • Friday, 6 & Saturday, 7 May
  • Friday, 13 & Saturday, 14 May
  • Friday, 20 & Saturday, 21 May
  • Friday, 27 May

Two doses of the vaccine should give your child long-lasting protection against serious complications of infection, including any future waves due to new variants. The vaccine will also provide some protection from the mild symptoms. The protection against mild Omicron infection should last for several weeks.

Each vaccine is a third of the dose of vaccine that is given to older children and adults.
