Micro Market set to open at The Point, County Hall
Wed, 27 Jul 2022

A Micro Market selling food and drink for council staff will soon open inside The Point at County Hall, Beverley.

The site will sell a selection of sandwiches, salads, chilled food, snacks, confectionary and cold drinks.

It was due to open in early August - but, due to unforeseen circumstances, it will now open at a later date.

The Micro Market will not be staffed - it will all be self-service - and there will be two automated payment points - these will be card only.

This will be the first time The Point has served food for more than two years.

Sue McIntosh, senior catering manager, said: "We are delighted to be bringing back a food offer to the Point, which will have longer opening hours - a real bonus to everyone coming back to work in County Hall."

The site will be operated and stocked by a firm from Yorkshire, with fresh produce locally made.

The Point - along with its popular food service - shut down in March 2020 as the Covid-19 pandemic hit.

The building reopened last year to provide hot drinks to staff.

Hot drinks are still available for £1 from the coffee machines, and staff are urged to take their own cups to save on waste and help the environment.
