Micro market comes to The Point, County Hall
Tue, 06 Sep 2022

A micro market selling food and drink for council staff will open this month inside The Point at County Hall, Beverley.

The site is expected to open on Monday 26 September at 9am, selling a selection of sandwiches, salads, chilled food, snacks, confectionery and cold drinks.

The micro market won't be staffed - it will all be self-service. There will be two automated payment points, these will be card only.

The site will be open throughout the day, whenever The Point is open - 7.30am to 7pm Monday to Thursday and 7.30am to 6pm on Fridays.

This will be the first time The Point has offered food for more than two years.

Sue McIntosh, senior catering manager, said: "We are delighted to be bringing back a food offer to the Point, which will have longer opening hours - a real bonus to everyone coming back to work in County Hall."

The site will be operated and stocked by a firm from Yorkshire, with fresh produce locally made.

The Point - along with its popular food service - shut down in March 2020 as the Covid-19 pandemic hit.

The building reopened last year to provide hot drinks to staff.

Hot drinks are still available for £1 from the coffee machines, and staff are urged to take their own cups to save on waste and help the environment.
