HM Queen Elizabeth II State Funeral - further information for staff
Date
Fri, 16 Sep 2022
Description

Further detail on the arrangements and timings for the funeral of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II were shared yesterday.

We now know that the funeral will take place over a period of 90 minutes, starting at 10:44 on Monday and that it will be broadcast live on every major national TV channel, as well as locally in a number of venues including prominent local churches, public houses and in Hull's Queen Victoria Square. A two-minute silence will be incorporated within the funeral and this is scheduled around 11:55.

Having considered this detail yesterday, we have decided to cancel our planned waste and recycling collections on Monday. Blue and brown bin collections that were scheduled for Monday will now be emptied on the next scheduled collection day on Monday 3 October. On that date, our waste and recycling teams will collect any resulting additional blue bin waste in clear plastic bags. Extra brown bin waste can be taken to household waste recycling sites.

Staff providing essential services such as social care for adults and children will of course continue to do so. Thank you to all staff involved in this provision as well as to our waste and recycling teams for their flexibility and response to changing needs.

View information about services and building closures on the council's website

We have been working hard to ensure that all staff, councillors and residents are aware of our planned closures and changes to services, releasing information via the media, email, our websites and social media channels and groups. Posters have been issued to all council sites to inform any customers or residents who are passing our venues.

At 8pm on Sunday a National Moment of Reflection will be held. This minute's silence is intended to create the opportunity for private reflection. Thank you to those of you who will be working at that time for your work to manage this for your staff, residents and customers.

Condolence books will be available to the public across our library and customer service centre network until 5pm on Tuesday 20th September, or when buildings close, whichever is sooner.

Floral tributes can be left at a number of designated venues across the East Riding up until the end of Monday, 19 September.

View designated locations for floral tributes on the council's website

From Tuesday, 20 September, the council will return to business as usual and public committee meetings will go ahead as normal.
