Sue and Kirsty walking the Northumbrian coast for Macmillan Cancer Support
Thu, 05 Dec 2019

Staff members Sue McIntosh and Kirsty Salisbury are putting on their walking boots to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer support.

Senior catering manager Sue and Kirsty, facility manager – coastal,  are in training to walk the Northumbrian coast, a 26-mile trek from Alnwick Castle to Bamburgh Castle in July and are hoping that friends and colleagues will support them.

Sue said:  “Our training has commenced on a small scale so far – we both have rescue dogs which we are currently wearing out, walking along the seafront in Bridlington, where we both live.

“Over 10 years ago we trekked the Inca trail in Peru and trekked and canoed down the Amazon in Ecuador to raise money for the national Deaf Children’s Association.  Although this challenge is not so far away this trek will be tough – we’re older and haven’t done anything like this in a very long time.”

The pair will be joined by Sue’s sister-in-law, Catherine and are raising money for Macmillan in recognition of the charity’s work in supporting cancer sufferers and their families.

Anyone who wishes to sponsor them can do so on the Just Giving page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/sue-mcintosh2 or by calling Sue on 07770 738720 or emailing her at sue.mcintosh@eastriding.gov.uk
