A bulk email system is going to be used to help keep frontline and other non-networked staff informed of important council news and advice during the COVID-19 crisis.

Granicus govDelivery is a secure, bulk email system which can be used to communicate with staff who do not currently have work email account accounts.

Chief executive Caroline Lacey said: "Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, I know a large number of staff are not currently able to keep up-to-date with council news and advice through normal channels of communication.

"To make sure staff are kept informed of important council information, we want to use the email address you provided for your iTrent accounts to keep in touch with you.

"By being able to contact staff in this way, it will be easy and quick to keep you informed of important information, especially in relation to how COVID-19 is impacting the council and local communities.

"Information will also include updates about how the council is dealing with the impacts of COVID-19 and guidance to staff about health and wellbeing and other matters."

Emails will signpost employees to all the updates on the intranet home, news and COVID-19 pages, which are among the parts of the intranet which are open access to all staff, using any internet-connected device from any location.

The initiative will complement global messaging emails, which are distributed to all networked staff who have work email accounts.

Caroline added: "I encourage all managers of non-networked staff to encourage their colleagues to look out for these emails and to make use of the opportunity to be kept informed of council news and advice.

"As ever, we're also open to other suggestions around staff communications and any other matters, using the intranet feedback form, the Suggestion Box email and the Text the Chief system."

And in a direct message to all staff, Caroline praised the workforce for its efforts so far to deal with the impacts of COVID-19.

She said: "Thank you to everyone for your continued great work and dedication during this hugely challenging COVID-19 crisis - your expertise, commitment, willingness to help in any way and dedication to helping our communities has been absolutely tremendous and very much appreciated."
