Proposed extension to Beverley controlled parking zone
Wed, 13 Nov 2019

The council has announced plans to extend the town’s controlled parking zone (CPZ), following complaints of parking issues in some residential streets.

As part of the extension, limited waiting times and residents’ parking permits would be introduced in a number of streets in the Mill Lane, Norwood and Goths Lane areas.

The proposal was approved by the council’s cabinet on Tuesday, 5 November.

The scheme will now be formally advertised for a period of three weeks, starting on Monday, 18 November, to allow residents a chance to comment on the proposals.

Earlier this year the council commissioned a parking survey and carried out a lengthy consultation exercise following an increase in complaints and a petition from residents.

Residents complained they had difficulties parking outside their homes, there was a lack of turnover of parking spaces during the day and there were ongoing access issues because of commuter parking.

Following support from residents, it is proposed to extend the CPZ to the following streets:

  • Norwood
  • parts of Grove Park
  • parts of Norwood Grove
  • parts of Norwood Far Grove
  • Mill Lane
  • parts of Waltham Court
  • Athelstan Road
  • Wellington Road
  • Turner Road
  • The Causeway
  • Langdale Avenue
  • Corporation Road
  • Duesbury Close
  • Sample Avenue (including loop)
  • Goths Lane
  • Watts Road
  • Cooper Street.

CPZ parking bays would be created with either one hour or two hour limited waiting from Monday to Saturday 8am-6pm, except for permit holders.

The scheme also includes the introduction of a one-way system for Norwood Far Grove, Laughton Road and Norwood Grove to improve traffic flow and increase parking spaces.
