Support for East Yorkshire Foodbank
Wed, 04 Dec 2019

As the winter nights close in and thoughts of stocking up the cupboards are lingering, spare a thought for people who, for whatever reason, are not able to provide food or basic necessities for themselves or their family.

Simon Haggie, a support services assistant in the despatch team, has taken it upon himself to help the East Yorkshire Food Bank, a charity which provides food and other useful items to those in need, by promoting the food bank boxes that are scattered around County Hall.

The charity welcomes non-perishable food, such as breakfast cereals, pasta, biscuits, tea and coffee, tinned vegetables and meat, rice, soup and UHT milk.

However the charity also welcomes toiletry donations such as deodorant, wet wipes, nappies, sanitary products and toilet roll.

People who wish to donate food or any other items can find the food bank boxes in the following areas in County Hall:
• alongside the Unison office
• near the internal turnstiles at the Champney Road entrance to J block
• upstairs in J block near to the public health office.

People can also take donations to despatch and there are also boxes at both Bridlington and Goole town halls.
