Sisters training for Snowdon charity challenge
Tue, 10 Dec 2019

Antonia Eyre and her sister, Robyn, are in training for a charity challenge to raise funds for the mental health charity Mind.

The sisters will be climbing Snowdon by night on Saturday, 9 May 2020 as part of a group led by a team of experienced leaders.

Antonia, who works as an IT officer at the council, explained that they are undertaking the challenge to raise awareness of the charity and the help that is available for people with mental health issues.

“The charity is one that is very close to my heart, as 10 years ago my dad took his own life when I was just 15-years-old. I feel that mental health and the stigmas still faced by men seeking help is something that needs talking about. It is so important for people to be aware of the help that is out there,” she said.

Antonia is training for the climb by going to the gym several times a week and walking in the Scottish Highlands. She and Robyn, who lives in Lancashire, are also planning to meet up for some training weekends in Wales.

The Snowdon challenge will see them starting their climb shortly before midnight, reaching the top in time to see the sun starting to rise over Snowdonia.
