Fairtrade Fortnight
Mon, 02 Mar 2020

Fairtrade Fortnight has started and will continue until Monday, 9 March.

The fortnight is an action-packed highlight of the year, where campaigners, businesses, schools and places of worship show their support for the farmers and workers who grow our food in developing countries.

Fairtrade means better prices, good working conditions and improvement to sustainability. The focus in 2020 continues to be on cocoa farmers and women in particular, so the slogan is "She deserves a living income".

Buying Fairtrade products means that there are agreed terms and pricing for both farmers and workers in developing countries.

There are over 4,500 Fairtrade products and Beverley has a Fairtrade group and it works hard to maintain its Fairtrade status.

If staff would like to get involved, please email John Turner from the Fairtrade group at jetbev@gmail.com or call (01482) 897573.

Alternatively, please contact development services assistant Victoria Cook at victoria.cook@eastriding.gov.uk
