Positive engagement as Deputy Meet the Chief Virtual Roadshows prove popular
Thu, 25 Jun 2020

Hundreds of council staff joined the recent Meet the Deputy Chief Virtual Roadshows to put their questions to deputy chief executive and director of planning and economic regeneration, Alan Menzies.

The events held in late June via Microsoft Teams provided the latest opportunity for staff to engage with a member of the council's corporate management team and will become a regular feature following the success of the inaugural events with chief executive Caroline Lacey.

Alan responded to dozens of questions on a variety of topics, mostly related to COVID-19, including economic recovery, the environment, devolution, the council's finances and working from home.

"It was a real pleasure to speak to so many of our staff via Microsoft Teams and I'd like to thank everyone for their time," said Alan.

"These sessions are an example of how we can use this new technology to keep staff up-to-date and answer their questions during these challenging times."

Since the Meet the Chief Virtual Roadshows in May, a number of directorates have also hosted their own sessions on Microsoft Teams, including communities and environment and adults, health and customer services, with corporate resources planning similar events for July.

"It is fantastic that these live events on Microsoft Teams have been so well received by our workforce," added Alan.

"They provide an excellent opportunity for constructive and transparent two-way engagement with staff and we will look to schedule these regularly as a standard part of our internal communications."
