Support to help with bereavement
Mon, 10 Aug 2020

The council is working with Hull and East Yorkshire Mind to ensure that people who are dealing with bereavement have  someone to turn to if needed.

Through understanding and empathy, the Mind team is there to help people cope with their loss and to talk to them about their concerns and hopes, as well as developing a personal support plan with them.

Following bereavement, staff may experience loneliness, isolation, lack of confidence and unhappiness, low mood or stress.

The team at Mind will listen and explore how staff can move forward with their lives when they are ready and able to do so and can provide practical and emotional support including CBT techniques that staff can learn to use themselves.

Support with memory boxes, funeral planning, attending inquests and debts and finances is also available within the team.

Staff will be offered support via the internet, telephone or in some cases face-to-face meetings with the acceptable social distancing and PPE guidelines followed.

The service is free and confidential and helps people understand their grief and cope with their loss.
