Closure of accounts guidance notes - financial year end 2021/22
Tue, 22 Feb 2022

The council must produce its Statement of Accounts at the end of every financial year in accordance with statutory deadlines.

It is therefore critical that the deadlines in place are met by all involved in financial administration throughout the council.

Guidance notes for the financial year ending 31 March 2022 have been published and can be found here.

The guidance notes run through the main areas and key dates involved in the closedown of service accounts. The notes are designed to provide services with information regarding the year-end deadlines and procedures for items such as:

  • Payment of external invoices
  • Internal recharges
  • Cash income
  • Debtors accounts
  • Stocks
  • Cash float certificates
  • Expense claims
  • Details of contracts over £10,000

If your role involves financial administration at any level, please ensure that you read the Closedown Guidance Notes 2021-22 so that you understand the requirements and how they may impact on you. If you have any questions, please contact the accountancy representative for your service area. Contact details can be found at the back of the guidance notes.
