Description

Bridlington Spa has announced the creation of a new live performance space titled Sessions; to be launched in April, the room will host some of the best up and coming talent around from music to comedy and spoken word.

Sessions will be a versatile space which can be used for a wide variety of performances. A fully equipped bar area has been installed replacing old office space along with a fully state of the art music PA and lighting system.

The first acts confirmed are local bands Pavillion and Seattle on the Mantle on Thursday 14 April. Pavillion are a five-piece formed on the back of a love for music and the desire to create a sound unheard in today's current indie scene. Pavilion have twice been named BBC Introducing York and North Yorkshire track of the week.

The second live band night on Friday 13 May features Manchester band The Dirty Laces who will headline the evening with support from Bridlington band The Hilder and Hull band Breeze. The Dirty Laces are often seen on the festival scene and have regularly supported Pete Doherty on his UK tours.

Blackburn band The Illicits follow on Saturday 21 May. The Illicits since signing with Alan McGee's Creation23 label, have gone on to have two top ten singles in the UK Vinyl Chart. As well as making their TV debut on Soccer AM and touring with Liam Gallagher, Primal Scream, DMAs, The Zutons and Miles Kane. They will be supported by local Bridlington band Feral Family who have recently released their new single Midnight.

Bridlington Spa will also be collaborating with Moonbeams to bring top-class acoustic, folk and roots music to Sessions with the initial line up confirmed including Edwina Hayes (21 Apr) Chris Helme (26 May), Joshua Burnell (21 July), Pete Bolton & Friends (18 Aug), The Trials of Cato (8 Sep), & Gary Stewart's Graceland (22 Sep).

Bridlington Spa general manager Mark Lonsdale said "We're delighted to create a smaller performance space that gives a platform to talent in the local area and beyond. We wanted to have a space that has the latest technical equipment as well as providing a very different feel to our other spaces such as the Royal Hall and Theatre.

This news comes on the back our previous announcements for this summer; when we will welcome McFly, The Kooks, Gabrielle, The Enemy and the international clubbing brand Cream, and we haven't stopped there will be further acts to be revealed in the next few weeks"

Tickets for all the events in Sessions at Bridlington Spa are now on sale.
